A Letter from Maureen Shelton, National LAOH Catholic Action Chair regarding the
Hibernian Hurricane Relief Fund

September 9, 2005

Dear Sisters

The LAOH and AOH are joining together to raise money for the hurricane victims. It will be called the
Hibernian Hurricane Relief Fund. At this time there are so many organizations raising money for the
hurricane victims we would like to reach as many Hibernians as possible to contribute to our relief fund
before you donate to other charities. It is important that our Irish Catholic organization be united in this
effort.

The AOH has a tax exempt ID, in order for you to receive a tax donation we need to have the checks
made payable to the account the AOH has set up. The checks would be sent to me made payable
to the AOH and I will
record them for our records and forward them checks to the AOH. In the memo
you will put Hibernian Hurricane Relief Fund. This will enable individual donations to be tax deductible
and alleviate the need for all the divisions, county and state boards to list donations under Gifts on their
annual report.

As we have all seen on the news reports of the devastation this hurricane and tornados has caused in
the southern states. I am sure we cannot really comprehend what it is really like if you live there and have
lost everything you own and nowhere to go. Our National President said in her letter that the Catholic
Churches have been badly hit. Priests are displaced, but many have found other housing in other
rectories. The Sisters are the most affected since they have been scattered all over. There are many
areas that are in dire need of our help our country has never experienced a catastrophe as this. As we
join together Sister and Brother Hibernians we can make a difference please help with this campaign.

Of course your prayers are needed for all those who have been affected by this horrific hurricane. I want
to thank you for all your support in all that the LAOH does through this office. I must say you ladies are a
blessing to me. I am so fortunate to hold this National Office and see first hand the difference that we
make.

Please inform your membership of this joint project together we will prevail in this endeavor. If you have
any questions please do not hesitate to call me. Our information will be on our National Web Site.

Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity

Maureen Shelton
